Our scientific committee
So rigour is not a marketing argument, but an operational requirement.
Why a scientific committee
Calerys talks about nutrition, the body, sometimes health. That demands a level of rigour that artificial intelligence alone cannot guarantee. The scientific committee's mission is to:
- Validate the nutritional principles underpinning Calerys's recommendations;
- Periodically audit the responses produced by the AI on representative cases;
- Define the limits of the service, in particular the systematic referral to a healthcare professional in case of a medical condition, pregnancy, breastfeeding, an eating disorder or ongoing treatment;
- Set the model update protocols in light of changes to official guidance (WHO, FOPH, ANSES, EFSA).
Our principles
1. Evidence-based
Our recommendations rely on current official references: the Swiss food pyramid from the FOPH/SSN, the French PNNS guidelines, WHO recommendations, EFSA guidelines. No fads, no miracle diets, no marketing-driven protocol.
2. Transparency
When Calerys gives a calorie estimate, it owns it as an estimate, with its margin of error. When a topic falls outside its scope (medical condition, treatment, pregnancy), it says so and refers you to a healthcare professional.
3. No medical substitution
Calerys never replaces a healthcare professional. Our committee ensures that this limit is respected at every level of the product: in the generated responses, in the marketing materials, in the user documentation.
4. Independence
No committee member is paid by food brands, supplement manufacturers or distributors. Any conflicts of interest are declared and published on this page.
5. Safety first
When in doubt, Calerys refers you elsewhere. Better to direct the user to a doctor or a qualified dietitian than produce an approximate answer on a sensitive topic.
Current composition
The Calerys scientific committee is currently being assembled. We're taking the time to select the right profiles — not the most visible, but the most rigorous and the most aligned with our mission.
If you are a doctor, qualified dietitian-nutritionist, clinical nutritionist, researcher in nutrition science, public health, endocrinology or eating behaviour science, and want to contribute to a project that already reaches thousands of people:
Write to us at hello@calerys.com specifying your background, your area of expertise, and what interests you about Calerys. We reply to every application, and we take this very seriously.
How the committee operates
- Quarterly reviews of the recommendations produced by Calerys on a sample of anonymised conversations;
- Validation of business rules and safeguards built into the model;
- Monitoring of relevant scientific developments;
- Opinions on sensitive topics (eating disorders, fasting, specific diets, particular populations).
Confidentiality commitment
Committee members work on anonymised conversations. No identifying data is shared. Members sign a confidentiality undertaking compliant with the GDPR and the nFADP before any access.
This page will be updated as soon as the committee's composition is finalised. Date of this version: May 15, 2026.
